Construction on the MD West ONE Sports Complex is moving forward and groundbreaking for the complex is planned for Spring of 2022. The MD West ONE Sports Complex will be located on 142 acres of land in Valley, NE located near 264th and Ida Streets.
Elkhorn Athletic Association is excited to announce that many Nebraska based companies will be involved in the building and design of the new complex. By selecting and working with all Nebraska based companies this project will provide a sense of pride and community for EAA and everyone involved.
“One of the many things that I love about being part of building a community-based regional destination facility like the MD West ONE Sport Complex is the intersection of community leaders and businesses that are all working together to leave a legacy for generations to come. It's inspiring when you have so many fantastic Nebraska companies leading in the community committing their time, talent or treasures to this project,” said Bruce O'Neel, EAA’s Executive Director. “Amazing organizations like MD West One, Lamp Rynearson, MCL Construction, Nemaha Sports Construction, Pinnacle Bank, Boys Town Pediatrics, General Fire and Safety, DJ’s Dugout, Steier Group and Investors Realty. It doesn't take long to quickly identify similar characteristics in the leaders of these companies and how they are committed to enriching the lives of kids through sports and supporting their community. It makes me proud we moved our family back to Nebraska and it’s what raising kids in the heartland is all about.”
Construction management for the complex has been awarded to MCL Construction, design and engineering services will be provided by Lamp Rynearson, and the field construction company will be Nemaha Sports Construction. As local industry leaders, MCL, Lamp Rynearson, and Nemaha bring an unmatched level of experience and expertise to the project.
“I have been so impressed with MCL Construction leadership starting with co-founder and President Bob Carlisle. You can see his leadership influence on everyone we have worked with on this project,” said Bruce O'Neel, EAA’s Executive Director. “Having dedicated industry professionals believing in the vision is powerful. Everyone we have met has a pride of ownership in being part of MCL and understands the legacy this project will mean for our community. It’s just awesome and humbling to have such passionate experts on this team”
This state-of-the-art complex will be a signature destination facility for outdoor youth athletics and community recreation-- not just for Western Douglas County residents, but for the entire region. The MD West One Complex will help keep sports and tourism dollars in the state of Nebraska for regional youth sports tournaments.
“Nemaha is honored to be a part of a team of local community partners who all have the passion to deliver this complex,” said Jeff Emanual, President of Nemaha Sports Construction. “We were drawn to this project because of the vision, leadership team, and everyone involved is doing it for the right reasons. The passion of everyone involved is going to create a synergy and delivery that’s going to make this complex a destination place.”
Phase one of the project will include eight turfed baseball/softball fields, six turfed fields (Soccer/Football), a barrier-free field and infrastructure development of concession stands, restrooms facilities, parking for up to 2,500 vehicles and the civil engineering. Future phases will include additional multi-purpose fields and 8 more softball/baseball fields. The MD West ONE Sports Complex will also provide space for a wide range of year-round activities for individuals and families, such as walking paths, playgrounds, and picnic areas. EAA has secured and now owns the land, which is being financed by Pinnacle Bank. Plans for construction of the facility are scheduled to begin in 2022. The goals are to have Baseball, Softball, Football, and Soccer fields ready in the Spring 2023.
“Lamp Rynearson has a passion for being involved with youth sports and creating a place where children can come and perform, play, learn, and grow,” said Nancy Pridal, CEO of Lamp Rynearson.” Adding value to our community is important to us as a company and this sports complex will have a long term impact on the local community.”
